BJU Spelling 3 Homeschool Kit 3rd Edition implements a biblical worldview for spelling instruction. This new edition has an updated layout and visuals but the same scope and sequence. The Homeschool Kit includes a spiral-bound Teacher Edition and a Student Worktext.
The Teacher Edition guides spelling instruction and the application of the worktext. A reduced copy of the student pages is included with answers in red. Each day includes organized instruction: Day 1, students are introduced to new spelling words and the new spelling/phonics rule. Students also do a word sort activity; Day 2 is a word study activity and a review of the rule taught from the previous week; Day 3 is a practice test, a proofreading activity, and an exercise practicing words using the “look, say, think, write, and check” study method; Day 4 students practice dictionary skills and an occasional writing activity; Day 5 is the final spelling test with sentence dictation (2 sentences). A dictionary and instructional aids are in the back of the Teacher Edition. HomeschoolHub.com also offers access to free instructional aids and other teaching resources in digital format.
The Student Worktext has a weekly word list, spelling rules and varied activities to reinforce the spelling words. Activities might include word sorts, word study, proofreading, dictionary skills, and writing activities. Every week, students complete an activity page on days 1 through 4.
