This student edition includes short stories or excerpts that are centered around six different unit themes: relationships, knowledge, courage, leadership, overcoming evil, and making choices. Before students read, they are presented with a question relating to the text, information to help understand the genre, and vocabulary words. There are questions in the margins during the reading and review questions that address literary elements, and biblical worldview as well as reading comprehension strategies after the reading. Information about the author and/or illustrator is also given after each reading. The stories are interesting, varied, and hold the reader’s attention.
