Revised in 2016, Heritage Studies 5 is now in its 4th edition. This level concludes the study of American History at the elementary level by offering an overview of America's entire history – America's First People all the way to the Obama Administration. Most chapters have an extended activity, a brief narrative titled "How it Was," and biographies. Students are encouraged to evaluate historical events through the lens of a Biblical worldview. A few sensitive topics are discussed such as abortion, stem cell research, and gay marriage. The Rand McNally Classroom Atlas and Rand McNally Historical Atlas of the World are suggested optional supplements. The Teacher Edition includes 180 lessons with objectives, vocabulary, discussions, cross-curricular links, primary sources, background information and extra activities. The Toolkit CD includes worksheets, visuals, maps, rubrics, and Student Activity Manual Answer Key. The Home School Kit includes Student Text, Teacher Edition w/ Toolkit CD, Student Activity Manual, Tests, and Tests Answer Key.
