Description

A robust discussion of the current culture war in regard to the Christian’s place in it, this book offers readers an examination of warfare and explains how to apply it to the current cultural landscape and one’s personal life. The book is broken into eight sections, which are subdivided into helpful headers. The reader is guided through how to take a stance for Christ and win over an unbelieving world through principles and rules. Discusses the principles of war (including mobility, concentration, surprise, cooperation, and more), cases of conscience (“is the language of war appropriate?”), the theology of resistance, a section full of aphorisms (one-liners, jokes, sayings), key battlegrounds, and much more. As expected from a book about culture, politics and hot topics are discussed through a biblical lens. The author writes from a place of confident assurance and shares thoughts, takeaways, and arguments impactfully alongside Scripture with immediate application. Some of the sections are quite long, longer than usual chapters would be, but the language itself is easy to read and understand. This book opens the door to excellent discussion topics. 279 pages, paperback.

Publisher's Description of Rules for Reformers

In Rules for Reformers, Douglas Wilson poaches the political craft of radical progressives and applies it to Christian efforts in the current culture war. The result is a spicy blend of combat manual and cultural manifesto. Rules for Reformers is a little bit proclamation of grace, a little bit Art of War, and a little bit analysis of past embarrassments and current cowardice, all mixed together with a bunch of advanced knife-fighting techniques. As motivating as it is provocative, Rules for Reformers is just plain good to hear.
