Roxley Games released the Battle Box 3: Pyromancer v Shadow Thief Game as the third of their Dice Throne Season One Rerolled challenges. This game contains another set of two characters and has everything needed for a head-to-head competition between adversaries with different abilities, personalities, and tools to create a unique, action-packed challenge.
Pyromancer: She uses fire and explosions to pack powerful attacks and defenses. She starts with a stack of 5 available Fire Mastery Tokens and as she gains more, she can add an additional hit to each damage during her offensive phase—but must remove one during each upkeep phase. Tokens are relatively simple to gain, so her offensive moves stay pretty heated throughout the game. If the Shadow Thief or any other Dice Throne opponent receives her Pyroblast, there is a chance she will inflict a Burn or Knockdown effect. A burn will inflict 2 damage during the upkeep phase and never goes away, while a knockdown will force an opponent to skip their next offensive roll phase, unless they can spend two combat points to remove it. Finally, having a meteorite hurled at an opponent results in them taking a stun token, which keeps them from taking any actions of any kind during Pyromancer’s entire turn and follows up with a second offensive roll phase before its removal. Just reading this might deter you from going up against the Pyromancer, and who could blame you?
Shadow Thief: He lives quietly in the shadows, seemingly passive while slowly sneaking up on his opponent with poison that persistently deals damage during the upkeep phase of their turn. He vanquishes slowly and intermittently wears down his adversaries while increasing health and using sneak attacks to suddenly add more damage to his offensive play. When he slips in the shadows, he can totally avoid an opponent’s offensive rolls and if he is lucky, his quiet lurking will pay off with a nuanced victory that might even be unexpected.
This battle box by itself is for two players with a 30-minute gameplay but can be mixed and matched with other game sets in the Dice Throne Series for more variety. Adding other sets can increase player count to six. Possible battle configurations are 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 2v2v2 or free-for-all play. ~ Marsha
