Category Description for Building Christian Character

This excellent character study includes an in-depth Biblically-based study of character as well as life-application components. This approach emphasizes that character accomplished by our own power ends in poor results while character from the Holy Spirit reaps Godly results.

The core of this curriculum is the Guide (394 pages, sc, and spiral bound). Extremely in depth, the guide defines aspects of Christian character and development with emphasis on how character relates to relationships, responsibilities and attitude. It is a comprehensive study of character traits, elaborating on the traits in terms of works of the Spirit and works of the flesh. For example, the author discusses elements of good stewardship such as being constructive and productive, conserving, being reliable, and faithful. In contrast, bad stewardship involves being wasteful, destructive, unreliable, and unfaithful. The Guide uses Scripture (NIV and NKJV) as the basis for character instruction, while also preparing the child for a relationship with God. Chapters build on each other and include Honor/Dishonor, Active Obedience/Disobedience, Responsibility & Faithfulness/Irresponsibility & Unfaithfulness, Kindness & Generosity/Meanness & Greed, Nonviolence & Nonresistance/Violence and Patience/Impatience.

There are several elements to this curriculum although the Guide can be used as a reference on its own. The Instruction Booklet guides the instructor through practically teaching character traits and assessing traits demonstrated in students daily activities and school. It includes a pictorial overview of how to use the character charts. Available separately are the non-reproducible Character Charts and Formswhich are 3 hole-punched and ready to insert in your notebook. Also includes one laminated Character Key reference guide (also available separately).
