Description

This is the first reader (4a) in the Abeka® reading program Grade 4. The 28 readings include a biblical narrative on Queen Esther, poetry, and excerpts from famous authors like Lewis Carroll, Robert Louis Stevenson, Hugh Lofting, and Hans Christian Anderson. Periodically, as students read selections, they will complete Think About It questions. This text adds 7 Build on It sections which engage students on story elements, such as identifying between nonfiction and fiction text structures, highlighting the story morals, points of view, plot, writing from different points of view, and more. At the book’s end, 14 pages provide space for students to respond creatively to record and draw main characters and collaborate with others to resolve a problem. For answers to comprehension questions and teacher direction, see the Reading 4 Answer Key with Literary Development and Enrichment Activities.
