The "In the Garden" video lesson library includes 30 videos — one for every lesson in the textbook and workbooks — giving families a watch-first resource that removes all uncertainty before heading outside. Each video is 6–12 minutes long and follows a two-part format designed to be both educational and genuinely enjoyable for kids.
In the first half of each video, a member of the Dirt Academy Kids team walks through the full content of the textbook lesson, covering the same concepts a parent would read aloud — making it easy to use the video in place of or alongside the read-aloud for any given lesson. In the second half, the lesson comes to life with a live demonstration filmed in Nina and Brendon's real, working raised bed garden. Kids watch the concept being applied in an actual garden — not a studio, not stock footage — with fun, unscripted moments woven throughout to keep kids laughing and engaged.
The videos are designed so families always know exactly what to do before they walk outside. Parents never have to guess, search YouTube, or feel one step behind their kids. Lifetime access is included in the "In the Garden" Bundle.
Looking for a family fun elective or supplement to your science course? In the Garden is a hands-on 30 lesson program that teaches families how to grow their own garden through doing, watching, and trying again. You don’t need a big space – raised beds, containers, or a small backyard plot will work just fine! Families learn about types of gardens, veggie layout, soil nutrients, planting seeds, transplants, pest control, and so much more! Program components include a hardcover or softcover textbook option, 2 workbooks (one for grades K-2 and one for grades 3-5), and engaging video instruction with free coaching. These components are sold individually or in packages. Lessons can be done at each family’s pace, usually 2-3 times a week. Flexible enough to be used over the summer, for a semester, or for the whole year – grab your gloves and get ready to explore a whole world waiting beneath the soil! ~ Gina
