Art Level 3 from Master Books is a hands-on, Scripture based art curriculum designed primarily for 3rd grade students, but easily adaptable for children in grades 1 through 3. While concepts are reintroduced from Art Levels 1 and 2, students also learn perspective, color theory, three-dimensional shapes, multimedia art, composition, and more. Each unit centers on the Fruits of the Spirit and other biblical virtues while connecting specific Bible passages directly to art concepts. Young students also learn how to draw a still life in each unit and view other works of art done by classic artists as an example of what they are learning. Extra Fun projects are optional and give students a chance to spend a little more time on projects that can even be given as gifts. Photography is even introduced through the Creation Inspiration pages. Every unit has two fun projects with straightforward instruction and pictures. Art Level 2 is not required before using Art Level 3, as long as students have comparable readiness: basic drawing, coloring, and following multi-step instructions.
Art Levels 1 & 2 for grades K-4 helps young learners build foundational art skills as they discover the beauty of God’s Word and creation! Some skills learned in Level 1 include cutting, painting, tracing, drawing, coloring, and sculpting. Level 2 is animal‑themed and expands on these concepts as children complete more involved hands‑on projects such as step‑by‑step animal drawings, paper bag puppets, paper maché, mosaics, lanterns, and dioramas. Lessons are scheduled for two days a week, about 20-30 minutes a lesson.
