Description

Gallop Into Math, the last level in the All About Math series, represents students taking their final gallop to finish the series strong. Level 5 builds on topics taught in Level 4 and continues to deliver multisensory lessons with flexible pacing while building numerical and algebraic reasoning skills. A few concepts taught in this level include learning decimals to the thousandths place, adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators, area and perimeter, multiplying fractions by fractions and mixed numbers, dividing multiple digit numbers by two-digit numbers, plotting points on coordinate grid, finding the volume of a rectangular prism, and representing and interpreting data using a bar graph with a scaled key. Periodic review lessons reinforce mastery. A placement test is available to ensure your student is ready for this level.

Materials include a Teacher’s Manual and Student Packet. The Teacher’s Manual includes 46 open-and-go scripted lessons. Don’t worry if you don’t feel confident teaching math – this guide walks you through every concept and gives you tips and tricks to help students grasp concepts fully. Spending about 20 minutes a day on math is the recommendation, so lessons will take more than a day to complete. Teacher involvement is still high at this level because of the games and the multisensory aspect of the program.

The Student Packet contains Gallop Into Math Activity Book, Calina’s Math Tools (cardstock manipulatives that include fractions and decimals mat, classifying quadrilaterals chart, decimal place value chart, grid paper, open number line, coin cards, bar graph template, and much more), and themed stickers. Games, worksheets, and other activities help kids retain new concepts and stay engaged in their learning. Every new concept learned includes a Calina’s Math Fun! game. Students also encounter lots of word problems through fun, real-life application activities.

One manipulative kit used for all grade levels is available to purchase separately. Students will also need a small dry erase board with markers. ~ Gina
