Offering eight weeks of summer-inspired topics, picture book and chapter book recommendations, and a variety of hands-on activities, the Simple Summer Guide is open-and-go with parent scripting. At the beginning of each week, a one-page grid lays out the weekly schedule, which includes the pages to read from Indescribable, literature recommendations at three levels (picture books, preschool books, chapter books), the hands-on activity, and recipes to make together. The author also includes a classic children’s poem and Aesop’s fable to share and discuss. Used throughout the study are the books Indescribable: 100 Devotions about God & Science and Slow Down: 50 Mindful Moments in Nature. The author has also included a Master Book List organized by week, other suggested nature reference books, preschool picture books, and chapter book recommendations. The books on the Master List are scheduled throughout the study. Many of the titles are available from the library, and the author encourages parents to substitute for a similar title if a book is not available. You will need to supply some household items.
