Handwriting Teacher Training Workbook

Fast-paced college note-taking ruined my handwriting and it never recovered, not even when I was teaching handwriting skills to my own children (do as I say, not as I do). If I had stumbled onto this little manual at the right time, I could have changed all that. This manual trains teachers to improve their handwriting so they are better prepared to teach children to have good handwriting. Both a manuscript and a cursive pretest are included (so you can prove you don't need to be trained or, more likely to understand why you do need training). Next, systematic instruction is given in manuscript and cursive letter strokes, elements of legibility, size, alignment, spacing, paper position, and joinings. Most importantly, there is plenty of room to practice first on strokes, then letters, then words, and sentences. Just like we want our children to do practice. A stroke-by-stroke listing of possible errors and ways to correct them is also provided. Each practice page becomes a self-checking worksheet. The final 20 pages of the book is a brief tutorial on how to teach handwriting in the classroom (easily adaptable for the homeschool). This will help you if you end up teaching a lefty (while you're a righty) as I did. The two posttests manuscript and cursive gives you the opportunity to pat yourself on the back. If you've wanted to hide your own handwriting as you've taught your children or if you feel your own handwriting inadequacies make you a bit of a hypocrite as you encourage your children to practice, this manual may be just what you're looking for.
