No prior Spanish knowledge is needed when teaching from the Spanish for Children Primer A Revised Edition Teacher’s Edition book from Classical Academic Press. With plenty of teacher encouragement, guidance, 6-appendicies, student-reduced pages with answers filled in, digital access instructions, and interjected Teacher’s Notes throughout—you are equipped to facilitate your students Spanish learning. This component of the program is where the most significant changes between editions occurred! There are 15 total chapters, 12 are instructional chapters and 3 are Unit Review with Field Notes chapters; the 12 instructional chapters are paced for 2 weeks per chapter, with the 3 Unit Review with Field Notes flexible to accommodate scheduling needs. There is a more detailed Lesson Plan that lays out what to do each week based on a 5-day weekly study.
It is a good idea to read through the Teacher Notes for each chapter before your student starts working on that chapter. There are helpful guidance and encouragement for both you and your student(s).
Directions for the games mentioned in the chapters are provided for both multiple students (co-op setting) and for homeschool use. The Digital Files are where you will find documents to print off for many of these games and activities. There are areas for teachers to take Notes throughout and because this Teacher’s Edition includes answers on the student pages, you may find yourself learning Spanish right alongside your students. Appendix F contains a blank copy of each chapter quiz and on the back side a copy of the quiz with answers filled in. These quizzes can be photocopied for each child in your family or co-op. Wonderful front matter discusses the classical methodology regarding foreign language, the importance and what to expect in each section of the chapters, and what/where to find information in the Teacher’s Edition. The previous edition of the program supplied only the answers, this new Revised Edition (2nd Edition) is more robust with teacher support, digital components, teaching strategies, along with all the answers and assessments. 384 pages, softcover. ~Rebecca
