This resource features a beautiful selection of short works from 19th and 20th century American (and British) authors! This newer 2nd edition anthology has changed just slightly from the previous edition. Although still focused on American short stories with a small back section of British poetry, Memoria Press added a few new authors to the list and highlighted different works for a couple of the previously existing authors. The front section of the book features a timeline of American literature, helping students to understand how a developing American culture birthed specific literary genres over the years. The book introduces each of the 16 American authors in chronological order with a picture and summary of their life and work, including what inspired them to write the selected pieces. For reference, stories are cited by paragraph and poems by line number, which is helpful for students completing assignments in Poetry & Short Stories for the Logic Stage Student Guide, 2nd Edition (056843) and teachers using Poetry & Short Stories for the Logic Stage Teacher Guide, 2nd Edition (056844) 128 pgs, pb. ~Nancie
