Description

Acting as a bridge between arithmetic and pre-algebra, Charlotte Mason Junior Math Series: Pre-algebra introduces negative numbers (comparing, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing), order of operations, solving expressions, powers and roots, formulas (adding/subtracting and multiplying/dividing), finding area, and data analysis. The course remains parent-child interactive, with the Text providing parent instructions as well as “Say” and “Ask” steps to guide the oral instruction. Oral and written work follows the instruction. Lesson time varies and is based on the individual student’s learning pace. Answers are found in the (included) Solutions Guide. End-of-term exams are included. Along with the hardcover Textbook and softcover Solutions Guide, students will need either the ¼” Gridded Notebook or the ½” Gridded Notebook and slate (chalkboard or dry-erase board). You will also want to have an analog thermometer, globe or map available with latitude and longitude, money (dollars, quarters, dimes, nickels), paper cut of parallelogram, protractor, geometry compass, colored pencils, calendar, scissors, and paper.

Category Description for The Charlotte Mason Junior Math Series

Simply Charlotte Mason Mathematics is an exciting new math curriculum based on the writings of Charlotte Mason in her timeless classic, Home Education. The author’s approach is one of guided discovery and the logical progression of concepts, rather than a reliance on stories or storytelling. Following a similar format to the Charlotte Mason Elementary Arithmetic, Junior Math Series is parent-child interactive with oral and written exercises. The course focuses on identifying the “guiding” or “captain” ideas which give meaning and relevance to the math application that follows. The Charlotte Mason Junior Math Series is intended for students who have mastered elementary mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
