The Charlotte Mason Junior Math Series Pre-Algebra offers students a bridge between arithmetic and algebra, teaching concepts like negative numbers, order of operations, solving expressions, powers and roots, various formulas, and data analysis. Interactive lessons are taught by parents through directed instruction and helpful tips. After the teaching time, students complete a mix of oral lessons with the parent and independent written work. There is no predetermined time for the daily lesson; rather, parents are encouraged to observe their child for frustration and/or boredom with concepts. Student understanding and response sets the pace for this interactive course. There are a few supplies needed for the course, including a 1/2” or ¼” gridded notebook, a slate or dry-erase board (chalk or dry-erase markers), analog thermometer with positive and negative temperatures, a globe, money (real or play), protractor, drawing compass, colored pencils, and a few household items. Along with the hardcover small-format textbook, you will also receive the softcover Solutions Guide that includes all the student problems worked out.

Simply Charlotte Mason Mathematics is an exciting new math curriculum based on the writings of Charlotte Mason in her timeless classic, Home Education. The author’s approach is one of guided discovery and the logical progression of concepts, rather than a reliance on stories or storytelling. Following a similar format to the Charlotte Mason Elementary Arithmetic, the Junior Math Series is parent-child interactive with oral and written exercises. The course focuses on identifying the “guiding” or “captain” ideas which give meaning and relevance to the math application that follows. The Charlotte Mason Junior Math Series is intended for students who have mastered elementary mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
