My Pals are Here! Secondary Mathematics 7 Student Book is a middle school math program based on the newest Singapore Math syllabus. Designed as a transition from My Pals are Here! Primary Math, this course develops beginning foundations in algebra, geometry, measurement, statistics, and problem solving. Comparable to a rigorous U.S. pre-algebra course, topics covered include integers, rational and irrational numbers, percentages, ratios, algebraic expressions, linear equations, coordinate geometry, geometry, statistics, probability, and applying metric measurement concepts to calculate perimeter, area, surface area, and volume. Students build mathematical reasoning skills through conceptual understanding, visual models, and real-world applications. The program emphasizes logical thinking and multi-step problem solving.
Each lesson in the full-color student book includes a clear introduction to the new concept with step-by-step explanations and worked (guided) examples. Visual models also help students understand each concept. Practice exercises progress from Basic to Intermediate to Advanced. Students use a four-step problem-solving method: Understand, Plan, Solve, and Check. At the end of each chapter is a summary, a journal activity, a 10-minute concept check to reinforce understanding, and a chapter review. An enrichment activity is also at the end of each chapter. Answers (not worked-out solutions) are in the back of the book. Worked-out solutions are found in the teacher resources, available in the Teacher’s Guide.
