Description

Sing, read, pray, and color your way through the Old Testament with Song School Bible from Classical Academic Press. The Student Edition has 32 lessons (plus 7 review lessons) covering the major stories of the Old Testament, from Creation to rebuilding Jerusalem. At the beginning of each unit, your child will meet two fictional child characters, Micah and Taliah, who will act as their guides throughout the book.

Each lesson begins with the theme, the Scripture reading, the memory verse, and vocabulary from the story. Then the music begins! All the Song audio files are included in the Student Edition through an Access Code in the front cover.  The lyrics and the song file number are indicated in the lesson. Besides the songs, the heart of the program is in the short story based on the lesson’s Scripture passage.

After learning the song and reading the Bible story, there are age-appropriate workbook activities. Students can practice handwriting/tracing words from the lesson, matching, yes/no questions, mazes drawing, puzzles, and more. All of the pages are printed in grayscale and your child may enjoy coloring in the blackline illustrations.

At the end of the lesson are discussion questions and a prayer prompt. As your child goes through the text, they will not just learn facts from the Old Testament—they will see God’s good plan of redemption. There is also an emphasis on learning biblical context and defining biblical terms.

In the Appendix are more resources if your child wants to go deeper: a full glossary of terms, a list of memory verses, notes on how to read your Bible and how to pray, a biblical timeline, and relevant maps of biblical lands. Softcover, 196 pages.
