Foundations Unit 6 Teacher Guide
includes a step-by-step guide to teaching the concepts covered in this unit.
The 25 lessons in Unit 6 cover advanced vowel teams and digraphs, prefixes and
suffixes, schwa syllables, and syllabication. Lessons begin with a list of
items needed to teach the lesson, then follows a six-step sequence: Drill and
Review; Introduction of New Concept; Spelling and Reading practice;
Syllabication; Red Words; and Oral Reading practice. The teacher guide also
shows when to use the instruction cards to help teach the lesson, how to
implement the pages in the student book, and suggestions for additional
multisensory activities. Parents/teachers might want to read ahead for the week
to gather some additional supplies for multisensory activities. Permission is given to copy game and activity
pages in the teacher guide. A posttest with five sections is included after the
