Description

Phonics Foundations Unit 4 Teacher Guide includes a step-by-step guide to teaching the concepts covered in this unit. The 24 lessons in Unit 4 cover long vowel sounds, silent e, vowel teams, homophones, r-controlled vowels, prefixes and suffixes, and additional syllable types and syllabication steps. Lessons begin with a list of items needed to teach the lesson then follows a six-step sequence: Drill and Review; Introduction of New Concept; Spelling and Reading practice; Syllabication; Red Words; and Oral Reading practice. The teacher guide also shows when to use the instruction cards to help teach the lesson, how to implement the pages in the student book, and suggestions for additional multisensory activities. Parents/teachers might want to read ahead for the week to gather some additional supplies for multisensory activities. Permission is given to copy game and activity pages in the teacher guide. Four posttests are included after the student has completed the 24 lessons. ~ Gina
