Description

In the late 1800’s scarlet fever swept through the nation. Andi and her family believed they were safe away from people on the ranch—but one by one ranch hands and family members started getting sick. Some quick thinking has Andi traveling from her family ranch to the big city. Andi has an alternative motive in agreeing to this move, and that is to save her friends and family back home! Even while being prim and proper in the big city, Andi gets into plenty of mischief and excitement—the big city is nothing more than a new playground for her to explore! The book starts off with a short list of 15 new vocabulary words relevant to the story. Chapters are short and include occasional sketched illustrations. Downloadable Lesson Plans are coming soon to add discussion questions and activities to your reading. An activity lapbook is sold separately by the publisher to add even more engagement. 106 pgs, pb. ~Rebecca

Publisher's Description of Andi Far from Home (Crcl C Stepping Stns #6)

When Fresno is hit with an unexpected outbreak of deadly scarlet fever, Andi Carter is scared. Her town friends are getting sick and school is closed until it passes. Far from the danger, at least Andi has her horse Taffy and plenty of work on the Circle C ranch to distract her.

But is she really safe? First one ranch hand, then two, and then her brother Mitch fall ill. Mother is convinced that the only way to protect Andi from this terrible disease is to send her far away to fussy Aunt Rebecca in San Francisco.

The noisy city and Aunt Rebecca's bossy ways may be worse than scarlet fever. But then Andi has an idea that might help save her friends back home...

Category Description for Circle C Stepping Stones

The Circle C Stepping Stones Series engages young readers as they grow alongside Andi. Andi is now nine years old. She is growing in responsibility as she cares for her palomino horse, Taffy. Together they have adventures across the Wild West of the late 1800’s along with their new friends. Even though Andi is a grown-up nine-year-old, she still struggles to heed instruction (especially when that instruction comes from big brother). This is a great stand-alone series that is ‘just right’ for those readers who are not quite ready for middle school chapter books. Each book in the series is approximately 12 chapters and ~100 pages long. This book series emphasizes good Christian morals, so parents can feel good about handing each one to their young readers. Each book has a free pdf Lesson Plan download with discussion questions and activities. Free coloring pages can be downloaded. For additional engagement with the text, check out the publisher website www.CircleCAdventures.com for lapbook activity books to go along with each book in this series.  ~Rebecca
