Description

Striking gold can change a community and it sure does change little Andi’s life and understanding to not judge a book by its cover. Andi and her friend Cory are determined to make it rich and find gold. When their determination leads them too far away from home to get help, they are at the mercy of their wit and the kindness of a stranger. All the while, Andi’s big brothers think she is sure to fail, and are confident they will be laughing at the end. The book starts off with a short list of 14 new vocabulary words relevant to the story. Chapters are short and include occasional sketched illustrations. Downloadable Lesson Plans are coming soon to add discussion questions and activities to your reading. An activity lapbook is sold separately by the publisher to add even more engagement. 106 pgs, pb. ~Rebecca

Publisher's Description of Andi Dreams of Gold (Circle C Stepping Stones)

Andi Carter has gold fever! Someone near town has struck it rich. Now Andi can't stop wondering if there might be some of the glittery metal in the creeks on the Circle C ranch. Her brothers agree that she might find something that sparkles. But they laugh whenever they talk about it. Andi is determined--when she finds gold, she'll be the one laughing!

Her friend Cory is excited to track down treasure too, and together they set off on an adventure. Panning for gold is cold, wet, tiring work. But Andi and Cory won't give up.

Success! Just when they discover what they're looking for, real trouble shows up: a spring storm, a missing horse, and a frightening bear. And those are just the beginning.

Category Description for Circle C Stepping Stones

The Circle C Stepping Stones Series engages young readers as they grow alongside Andi. Andi is now nine years old. She is growing in responsibility as she cares for her palomino horse, Taffy. Together they have adventures across the Wild West of the late 1800’s along with their new friends. Even though Andi is a grown-up nine-year-old, she still struggles to heed instruction (especially when that instruction comes from big brother). This is a great stand-alone series that is ‘just right’ for those readers who are not quite ready for middle school chapter books. Each book in the series is approximately 12 chapters and ~100 pages long. This book series emphasizes good Christian morals, so parents can feel good about handing each one to their young readers. Each book has a free pdf Lesson Plan download with discussion questions and activities. Free coloring pages can be downloaded. For additional engagement with the text, check out the publisher website www.CircleCAdventures.com for lapbook activity books to go along with each book in this series.  ~Rebecca
