Open and go, fun, and straightforward – All About Math Level 2 is all of these and more! Level 2 Materials include the Teacher’s Manual and Student Packet. The Teacher’s Manual has 58 scripted lessons that are designed to be spread out over a number of days. The publisher recommends spending around 20 minutes a day teaching math unless your child is eager to continue. The Student Packet includes Dash Into Math Activity Book, Flash’s Math Tools (10-frames, number cards, place value chart and disks, analog clock, money cards, fraction circles, and more), and themed stickers. Activities might include solving story problems through games, cutting and pasting/matching activities, number line activities, and lots of other fun tasks your student can actively participate in to apply the new concepts learned. Levels in All About Math do not necessarily correspond to grade levels – the goal is to master topics before moving to more advanced concepts.
Level 2 includes some concepts usually learned in first and most of second grade. Some topics in this level include reading and writing numbers through 1,000; understanding place value through hundreds; adding and subtracting within 1,000; using addition and subtraction within 100 to solve word problems; fluently adding and subtracting within 20; measuring and estimating length; working with time and money, recognizing and drawing shapes; partitioning circles and rectangles into equal shapes.
This is a multisensory math program (utilizing sight, sound, and touch) that emphasizes strong conceptual understanding. Students master the four basic operations through practice and application while building on previous concepts taught in Level 1.
One manipulative kit for all grade levels is available to purchase separately. Students also need a small dry erase board with markers. ~ Gina
