Description

Travel the world through history with this engaging multimedia course for grades 9–12. On-location video lessons filmed in more than 40 countries combine with narrative readings, primary source documents, colorful illustrations, guided notes, quizzes, and built-in flashcards to help students think historically—not just memorize dates.

Covering ancient civilizations through the near-present, the two-course set includes The Thousand Names of God (4000 BC–1300 AD) and From a Far Country (1300 AD–near present). Students explore major civilizations, cultures, events, and movements while tracing global themes across 16 world regions. Each course includes about 50 sessions, taking about one semester to complete. Together, both courses form a year-long, solid credit in World History and an additional credit in Humanities – if doing the advanced track.

I love the downloadable audio lessons read by the professor, which give students the option to listen instead of read. Daily quizzes are graded automatically and recorded in the student gradebook. An answer key and easy-to-use checklist rubric simplify grading for any additional student work.

World History I and World History II zoom in on and establish critical connections between all 16 major world regions, making them global history courses in the truest sense of the term.

The Nomadic Professor online history program uses an immersive and story-driven approach to teach history. Students will follow the Nomadic Professor from setting to setting as they learn about the history that took place there and learn to think critically, analyze primary sources, and communicate effectively. Each course bundle offers a full year of history in a completely online platform that’s well-organized and easy to navigate for students and parents alike. The multi-sensory approach caters to all learning styles. Engaging text is filled with colorful photos and timelines, and audio recordings (available for each lesson) are a huge win for students with dyslexia or those who enjoy listening to lessons. On-location video clips embedded throughout the text offer stunning visuals around the globe and bring historical settings to life. 

In addition, hands-on activities are suggested to deepen understanding. Guided Notes (for print or download) can be filled in as students read, flashcards help review vocabulary, and daily online quizzes (automatically graded) provide accountability and help students retain key concepts. 20 lessons in each course are devoted solely to analyzing source documents. A variety of writing assignments are offered throughout. Answer Keys & Rubrics are provided for all assignments. Each course has about 100 sessions that can be completed in roughly 60–90 minutes each. Students can choose basic or more advanced tracks to follow for additional elective credit and AP or CLEP test preparation.
