Cursive handwriting is a beautiful art, but unfortunately, many of us have strayed away from it. Written for older students and adults, this book educates and instructs the reader about the history of American Cursive while giving specific instruction on how to master the art. Beginning with handwriting samples, the book starts by showing how to form numbers and each upper and lowercase letter. Then the first three chapters focus on the purpose and heritage of American Cursive. Laying out specific handwriting instruction and techniques, the next three chapters present cross drill and movement exercises for practice (there is even a section on improving a signature). The last chapters offer detailed lesson plans, literature excerpts and quotes for extra practice. Practice sheets that can be photocopied are in the appendix, as well as instruction on how to use a fountain pen and write a personal letter. This handwriting resource is very similar to American Cursive Handwriting Self-Study Workbook (035690) only it is focused more on improving adult penmanship. There is also not as much guidance for the copybook practice pages (although the instruction is enough). If you are serious about improving your handwriting skills and learning the value and enjoyment of this lost art, this book is for you.
