Upon completion of the ABC See, Hear, Do: Level 4 – Learn to Read Blended Ending Sounds, your student is ready to use this reader to build on the literacy skills introduced. This reader uses consonant and vowels and blend ending sounds that were used in Learn to Read 4. The picture guides are included in the reader under each letter to remind students of the sounds – a very unique feature of this program. The blend ending has a line connecting the two or three letters, making it clear that they should be sounded out together. Once they have successfully read the story, cover the pictures guides and have them try reading the words alone. Your student will learn a lesson on being kind and how to treat others the way you want to be treated. Viv picks on her brother Gus and then gets picked on by Nash the dolphin. She doesn’t like getting picked on and realizes that Gus probably didn’t like her picking on him. She sets out to make things right! 30 pgs, pb.

The ABC Zoo Kids series builds on literacy skills introduced in the ABC See, Hear, Do Learn-to-Read series. Once children master the letter sounds in Level Four, they are ready to read this story! Corresponding animal illustrations from ABC See, Hear, Do Level Four: Learn-to-Read Blended Ending Sounds are included throughout the text of this story.
Category Description for Level 4 Books
Level 4 builds on what has been learned in the first three levels. A total of 17 blend ending sounds will be learned along with making hand motions. Then students will practice combining CVCC and blend ending sounds to make four or five letter words. The blend has a line connecting the two or three letters, making it clear that they should be sounded out together. The list of blend endings learned are as follows: ck, ed, er, ing, ld, lf, lk, ll, lt, mb, mp, nd, nk, nt,, ph, ss, tch. With each blend ending, a list of three words will follow for practice giving 51 new words learned. At the end of the book, there are an additional 40 words without guide pictures under them to offer a reading challenge.

*If your student is new to this program, either level 1 or level 2 Learn to Read books will be helpful in learning the individual letter sounds and motions. Level 3 teaches 17 beginning blend sounds.
