Spectrum Reading workbooks provide additional reading comprehension practice you can use alongside your ELA program. Grade 1 has different themes than the grade 3+ books, including pre-reading skills, letters/sounds, rhyming, high-frequency words, fiction, and nonfiction. At this grade level, students are expected to read words and short sentences and respond by circling the correct answer, filling in blanks, and writing out brief answers or simple sentences.
Some example reading selections: putting illustrations in the correct sequence, tracing upper and lowercase letters, circling rhyming objects, healthy teeth, Max and Cat play catch, and how fish breathe.
