Spectrum Reading workbooks provide additional reading comprehension practice you can use alongside your ELA program. Grade 1 has different themes than the grade 3+ books, including: consonant sounds, vowel sounds, fiction, and nonfiction. At this grade level, students are expected to read words and short sentences and respond by circling the correct answer, filling in blanks, and writing out brief answers or simple sentences.
Some example reading selections: a continuous Mama Duck story, a girl dreaming of a pet, changing autumn leaves, whales, and cows. There is no handwriting instruction here.
