This course traces major world history themes from the Enlightenment to present, examining culture by how a society views authority, defines justice, accomplishes tasks, expresses ethics, and passes on values. While examining how the church has positively affected history, students will also study the transition from a Christ-centered to a human-centered society. Four required projects include copying a creative work from the Reformation, presenting a speech on the value of tradition, crafting a 30-hour project of choice, and writing a research paper. Students read primary source and a few fiction excerpts from varied Christian and secular authors like Newton, Bach, Napoleon, Darwin, and Pascal. Course requires lectures (12 DVD set), Student Reader (400 pgs), and the Teacher's Guide. It also suggests supplemental readings to reinforce topics.~ Ruth
