Teaching social skills has become a priority in recent years. With Training Aliens author Dr. Melanie Wilson, it can be fun and interactive to teach too! These courses are best used with a group of children but can be adapted to use with one child. Now with 3 levels, each course has 4 units covered in 16 weeks:

- Problem Solving
Course components include:
- Training Manual & Teacher’s Guide is for the Parent/Teacher (available in either a secular or faith-based version)
- Adventures in Social & Emotional Skills is the Text, which is a book of stories and scenarios you read aloud to the group
- Each unit includes 4 missions with 1 free video per unit (optional, on publisher’s website).
After the story, students choose from 2 options for dealing
with the challenge. They speculate on what could happen! Students are also
assigned tasks to complete such as saying hello to 5 new people. There is no
student workbook; rather, you can print free PDFs when necessary for each
student from the publisher’s website.
If you are using the faith-based Teacher’s Guide, you will read from your own Bible or a combination of your Bible and the text. For Level 1, required resources include a picture book of your choice and colored pencils. Additional household items are used in Level 2. Level 3 requires colored pencils, a fable, and a picture book. It is best to complete the levels in sequence as the beginning topics are foundational. ~Sara
