Description

Story Book Latin Year 3 Student Workbook from Logos Press is a full-color worktext that includes instruction, review, and exercises. In the appendix are the grammar references, question key, and glossary.

Each lesson begins with learning 18 new vocabulary words, taught through full-color illustrations, followed by derivative practice.  In the next few pages, the new grammar is taught and/or previous grammar is reviewed.  Some lessons have a short “Pensum” (homework assignment). Then the heart of the program is translating classic Roman myths from Ovid and Apuleius.

In each lesson, your student will use what they have learned to read and translate one Roman myth, one sentence at a time.  Above each Latin sentence is a blank square where the student will illustrate the sentence that he just read, with about 12 story squares total. As part of translating the story, students are also asked to mark or label specific grammar concepts in the sentence.  To close out the lesson, your student will answer questions about the story, all in Latin. Flashcards and test/quiz packet are sold separately. 429 pages, softcover. ~Tara

Publisher's Description of Storybook Latin Year 3 Roman Myths Student Workbook
Why shouldn’t kids learn to read Latin the way we learn to read English? Most Latin programs for children are either silly and pointless or soullessly dry.

Instead of struggling through endless charts or busywork activities, Storybook Latin provides simple stories and bright pictures so that kids 3rd grade and up can learn to read and start to answer simple questions in Latin.

Each lesson of Storybook Latin Year 3 includes stories taken from classical mythology. Most of the stories are based on Ovid and Apuleius, Roman authors who retold the stories of Greek mythology. Each lesson includes a story, flashcards for the story, a simple grammar explanation, questions in Latin about the story, oral exercises, and weekly quizzes. Year 3 reviews all five noun cases and their functions, all four verb conjugations, three tenses, adjectives, infinitives, and imperatives, and covers new concepts such as pronouns, the fourth declension, and demonstrative and personal pronouns.
