If you are between the ages of 6-99, love quick card games, bananas, pineapples, oranges and toucans, you will love this game! Grab your grandma, little brother, friends and uncles and go Tucano! The goal of this game is simply to collect fruit cards in the most opportune way to earn points and win!
Start with a 70-card deck containing 13 different types of fruit, 12 Toucan cards and one wild card. Deal three cards face up to begin three columns and add one additional card to the middle column. Place the draw deck to the left of these cards.
The first player chooses all cards from any of these three columns of cards and places them in his own display area face-up, keeping matching fruit cards together. Next, they add one card from the draw pile to each column making sure that the empty column is replaced – bringing them back up to three. It is important to notice how the cards score at the end of the game. Some groups of fruits furnish points for specific numbers of collected cards of that type while others give points if you are the person who ends up with the most cards of any type of fruit or might give you point subtractions if you do not. If you draw one of the Toucan cards, there are one of three special actions you immediately take. 1.) give your neighbor a nice gift of any card you do not want, 2.) take one of your neighbors’ face-up cards or 3.) flip all your current cards and place them into a face-down pile. If you are the lucky person who draws the joker, it is wild and placed in the most advantageous group of your cards for scoring at the end of the game.
When the draw pile is empty, the last player draws one last card column, and the game is over. Everyone will have had an equal number of turns. Players add up points for each of their fruit card groups and the player with the most points wins!
What a nice, fun, quick, portable card game this is! I love Tucano for all these reasons, and it only takes fifteen minutes to play. ~ Marsha
