Description

Alderac Entertainment Group really knows how to make vegetables appealing in this lively Point Salad family card game! Although the publisher indicates that this game is for ages 14+, it is widely believed in the board game community that much younger people (ages 8+) can easily play this game.

108 double-sided veggie/point cards and a rulebook are all you need for many hours of family fun. Each card has different scoring conditions on one side and combinations of six different vegetables on the other side for a great variety of strategic combinations. Create a card draw area by dividing cards into three piles, with their scoring side up as a top row. Flip over two cards from each score card pile and place them below so there are three columns, each consisting of one score card and two vegetables. Players take turns drawing either one point card or two veggie cards. After drawing them, they place them face-up in front of them with score cards in a top row and veggie cards arranged in rows underneath to form their own tableau of played cards. Each turn, players may choose one score card in their tableau to flip over to its veggie side. The draw area is replenished after each turn and once all cards have been drawn, the game ends.

Going through each score card in their tableau, players match scoring conditions to their vegetables to arrive at a final score. For example, one scoring card might score 8 points for each set of tomato, lettuce, and carrots. Another card might score 3 points for each played tomato but subtract two points for each onion. The player with the highest total score wins!  For 2-6 players in a 15-to-30-minute play time. ~ Marsha
