As a crafter with aging eyes, I totally get the need for magnification and good lighting! The light base can sit on a table or attach to a metal surface with a strong magnet on the bottom. The light easily unclicks from the base to clip anywhere up to 1" thick. The LEDs are plenty strong, so it doesn't take much to be super bright. In addition, the flexible neck moves where you need it and stays there. At first, I thought the magnifier was pretty small at 2" across, but when you place it where you need it, the small size doesn't get in the way, which is lovely. I would use this when painting small objects, making or fixing jewelry, precision gluing, etc. Keep one in the kitchen for detailed cookie decorating. It would also be great for working on clocks or models. Since they store so small and tidy (about a 4" cube), you might have a couple around the house and garage. Handy stocking stuffer! ~Sara
