For Homeschoolers, streaming access lasts for the life of the product. Streaming provides the convenience of instant access, as well as desktop, smart TV, and mobile viewing capabilities. Buying for a school? The Latin Alive! 1 Revised Edition Streaming Video is a great tool for the classroom! It can be used as: A helpful resource for new Latin teachers, both for themselves and for the class A substitute teacher when the regular teacher is away A library item helpful for new students or for students needing extra review The Latin Alive! series is a relevant, rigorous, yet engaging introduction to Latin for middle and high school students. This Latin curriculum will truly make the Latin language come alive both for students who have studied Latin (such as students who have completed the Latin for Children curriculum) and for those who have not previously been introduced to Latin. Written by experienced and enthusiastic Latin teachers, the Latin Alive! series provides complete Latin training that enables students to read and translate original Latin. The Latin Alive! series features a unique blend of grammatical training and engaging reading of original Latin texts that will help maintain student interest and impart skill, capacity, and mastery. Where other curricula downplay training in grammar, the authors of this series have found a way to teach grammar so that students understand and enjoy it. The authors present Latin grammar in small, digestible sections that are clearly illustrated and explained. As students find success decoding and reading Latin, their pleasure will increase. The Latin Alive! series also creates student enjoyment by illustrating the relevance of Latin in history, ancient and contemporary culture, the Romance languages, English derivatives, and the grammatical structure of English. Students will see in multiple ways the benefits of Latin study. By providing training in Roman culture, myths, and history (as well as robust Latin instruction), the series also prepares students well for the National Latin Exam and an Advanced Placement Latin course.
Category Description for Latin Alive!

Latin Alive! is a middle school (and early high school) Latin program from Classical Academic Press made for beginners. There will be 3 levels when the revision is complete, each a full school year of study. Chapters are grouped into 5 units, with each unit ending with a reading portion that includes some history of ancient Rome and the world affected by Rome. Students love this part!

The revision largely changed how the content is presented. It now has a less intense, more enjoyable pacing. Parents/teachers have the option to extend exercises or use them in a simpler form. The older and new editions are not compatible. It is important to note that Latin Alive! when done with the additional practice prepares students for both the National Latin Exam and an Advanced Placement Latin course.

Students learn the basics, including classical pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, translating, speaking, and Roman culture and history (in English). Unit review chapters resemble the format of the reading comprehension portion of the National Latin Exam and the multiple-choice section of the AP Latin exam.

Each student will need a consumable Student Edition. You will find classical pronunciation, a complete glossary of vocabulary words, grammar lessons & exercises, sentence translation, multi-sensory exercises, chapter readings, unit reviews, reading helps, historical context, and bonus material. Helpful appendices add convenient references for the student. These are not reproducible.

Whether you are teaching a co-op, classroom, or a student at home, you will need the Teacher Edition*. This includes student pages with answers filled in, a pacing guide to complete a chapter over 8 instructional days (32 weeks), and helpful tips to make you feel more confident as the teacher.

*Assessments (chapter quizzes) are not in the Teacher’s Edition. A Quiz Packet can be purchased separately from www.classicalacademicpress.com . The downloadable packet includes a weekly quiz for each chapter, complete scoring key, and suggested scoring.

Streaming Videos offer weekly 30-minute video lessons with author, Karen Moore. Not only does this help the parent who may not be solid in Latin, but it guides the students in correct pronunciation. You will receive an email with access to these videos. Access is for the life of the product.
