Description

The DIVE Self-Paced Integrated Chemistry and Physics Course is perfect in 8th or 9th grade and is excellent prep for Biology, Chemistry, & Physics! It’s user-friendly—assignments are clearly laid out with embedded links for efficiency. Students study one semester of introductory chemistry and one semester of introductory physics and should have already completed (or be currently taking) Algebra 1. Each lesson consists of several parts:

  • Expert Video Lectures (about 20 minutes each)
  • Interactive lesson reviews (auto graded/recorded)

The Lab video each week is about 30 minutes long and has correlating video solutions to ensure concepts are understood. The lab manual included features printable worksheets and lab exercises. For those working out labs in person, a lab kit from Nature’s Workshop is available here with most of the needed materials.

The Teacher Guide included has a “Getting Started” video, instructions on using for honors or standard credit, information on grading, an online gradebook, recommended additional reading, and more.

Designed for use as an honors or standard course, DIVE Integrated Physics & Chemistry teaches all the topics for the new requirement including Science and Christianity, measurement of matter, atoms, the Periodic Table, nuclear chemistry, chemical bonds and reactions, acids and bases, Newton’s laws, work and simple machines, gases and thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, and light. Upon completion of DIVE ICP, students will be adept at working with the scientific method, developing lab skills that are above and beyond most of their peers. They will understand the importance of the energy sources used to power our world. Most importantly, students will have a better understanding of the laws God has woven into Creation. They will gain an appreciation for the rich Christian heritage that exists in science.With special emphasis on men like Isaac Newton and Michael Faraday, students will understand the importance of studying His Word and His Works as they seek to become good stewards of His creation.

This 32-week introductory chemistry and physics online course can be used as a physical science course taught from a biblical perspective. Students should have completed or be taking Algebra 1. Lecture and video labs average 30 minutes (hands-on labs are not required to get lab credit if students are watching video). A printable PDF lab workbook is included. Choose the online textbook or a different suggested textbook in the teacher guide. Assignments, tests, and quizzes also need to be printed out and there is no automatic grading system.
