Whistlefritz
Spanish is a
user-friendly option to bring full-immersion Spanish to young children using
learning songs and engaging videos. Cheerful, catchy songs teach colors, numbers,
animals, family and more. The main character is a festive little mouse named
Fritzi. A mix of animation and real people delight children in the videos, all
while using only Spanish. Parents are not expected or required to know any
Spanish themselves, but you are likely to learn some new vocabulary!
VIDEOS are available as a digital download
or as DVDs (while supplies last). Each 25-minute
immersion DVD contains a variety of short scenes including live
action, animation and puppets. The series features plenty of repetition,
slower-paced conversation, and an easy-to-follow format that is helpful for
parents and kiddos. Several short songs are included as well. The videos were
created in the following order from first to last: LOS ANIMALES, VAMOS A
JUGAR, ADENTRO Y AFUERA, LAS ESTACIONES, and LA FIESTA DE FRITZI. If you
have a child of 3 or under, the publisher recommends starting with LOS
ANIMALES and watching the videos in order. If you have a child older than
3, they recommend starting with ADENTRO Y AFUERA, then circling back to
the earlier videos.
MUSIC is available as a digital download
or as CDs (while supplies last) and have themes kids love! Singers are native
Spanish speakers with a variety of accents. A translation guide is included.
Let children move to the beat, listen in the car, or just have the music on in
the background as they play. They will remember the vocabulary easily!
CARD
GAME The Spanish
Matching Cards game is a fun way to practice vocabulary and has a
little fox character named Rito demonstrating the words, as well as the printed
word with pronunciation help. The 50 cards can be turned face down to play a
matching game.
LESSONS are available in print or accessed digitally for 1
year. Your Educator's Streaming Service gives you unlimited
access to all of Whistlefritz’s Spanish-learning videos and music for
kids AND digital downloads of the Spanish Lesson Plans curriculum, Matching
Memory Cards and Spanish Home Educator’s Guide.
If you want
a more formally presented lesson, the Educator’s Spanish Collection
includes the Spanish Lesson Plans for Kids (also sold separately), music
and videos for a parent/teacher to follow guided lessons. Parents have shared
that this course is challenging if you don’t know some Spanish yourself. The plan
book contains 40 lessons using creative and interactive projects like making
puppets, trying new recipes, making play dough, and drawing pictures of family.
Each new lesson refers back to past learning, helping the new vocabulary and
phrases stick. The lessons guide a parent/teacher, telling them exactly what to
say and do. The pronunciation help comes from the videos (make sure you know
the correct pronunciation too, so you model it correctly). In the lesson
plan book are vocabulary words to have your student repeat and practice.
These lessons reference specific videos in the series. Expect each lesson to
take 30-40 minutes, including the videos and activities. You are only watching
a part of a video for each lesson. Scripted lessons mean very little planning
for you!
