Each six-week unit takes a different focus: Unit 1 Christopher Columbus, Unit 2 the Jamestown colonists, Unit 3 Pilgrims. Unit 4 Daniel Boone, Unit 5 Lewis and Clark, and Unit 6 concludes with famous folk heroes and families traveling over the vast expanse of the west and their opportunities. Additional required resources include the Core Resources used in all six units, student notebook pages, and the unit literary selections. Some titles may be out-of-print but should be available on the used market, through a library system or online. Core Resources include: Profiles from History Volume 1, Eat Your Way Around the World, Classroom Atlas, United States History Atlas, North American Wildlife Guide, and a large USA and World Outline Map.
