Description

In Level 4, your child will meet significant people from the regions of Asia that had an impact on God’s kingdom, from Doubting Thomas to Hudson Taylor to Amy Carmichael. The first two chapters give a geographical overview of the major regions of Asia (India, China, Japan) before the arrival of missionaries.

Learn how William Carey’s passion for the lost led him to India and his work in translating the Bible. Then follow John Paton and his compassion for the cannibals in the South Pacific. Throughout the text, your student will learn the importance of bringing the Gospel to unreached countries and peoples in the vast continent of Asia. Extra attention is given to the religious beliefs of the region and the impact of paganism and Buddhism. The focus is on students learning key historical events within the context of the Christian faith. Every chapter also includes “Prayer Points” with guidance for how pray for various regions in Asia.

By studying these significant historical characters, your child also will learn the events they lived through, including the growth of the Mongol Empire, the Boxer Rebellion, and the Tiennamen Square Protest. Shorter sentences and a lower reading level make the text easy to understand, as concepts are broken down into simpler ideas. Double-columned text includes insets with key vocabulary words and their definitions. Full-color maps, illustrations, and labeled photographs bring the narratives to life. Use with the Taking Asia for Jesus Student Workbook. All Scriptures are taken from the NKJV.  338 pages, softcover. ~Tara

Category Description for Generations History Courses

Written to teach children about the providence of God in history, the Generations History courses offer homeschool families an open-and-go option that is engaging to readers and easy to use. Beginning in kindergarten, My 1st History shows children that God calls people for His purpose and glory. Through the 34 stories, children will be introduced to some of these amazing men and women from biblical times through the 20th century. Following the readings, My 1st History includes short discussion questions on the story. Church History is introduced in the grade 1 course, which also lays the foundation for the courses that follow. Once the foundation is laid, the subsequent courses teach geography and Christian history across the continents. Along with the Textbook, a companion Activity Book (grade 1) or Workbook (grades 2–6) is recommended. In grade 1, the Activity Book is full-color, while the other grade-level Workbooks are black and white. Activities vary and may include coloring pages, mapping exercises, Scripture writing, prayer points, enrichment activities, and special projects.
