Kindergarteners can begin their first study of history in a format they can naturally grasp: through the stories of people. Young children will be introduced to a variety of people, from historical figures like King Josiah and Sir Isaac Newton to ordinary children from other times and places. This text covers a broad scope of people across many continents and time periods. Each chapter is about 4-5 pages and features many photographs, illustrations, and maps that will capture your child’s attention.
Sentences are short and concepts are explained at a level appropriate for a young child. At the end of each lesson is a Bible verse and a few discussion questions to ask your child. Most of the questions are simple comprehension questions, but some go a little deeper to encourage faith development.
Throughout the text, the authors emphasize how God has accomplished his purposes through the lives of people and how their faith intersected their decision-making. The text also encourages children in their own relationship with God—recognizing their own sinfulness and need for a Savior. Many of the lessons tell the stories of children whose hearts were changed and who chose to follow Jesus. Infused with moral and spiritual lessons, the text highlights the value of obedience, trusting in God, doing all things for God’s glory, and helping others. Unlike the other levels, the Kindergarten level uses only one textbook and does not use a workbook. All Scriptures are taken from the NKJV or the ESV. Softcover, 232 pages. ~ Tara
