With beautiful, origami-themed artwork, Sea Salt & Paper by Pandasaurus Games is a unique 2–4 player card game that invites players to collect different types of cards and gain points over several rounds until a specific number of points are scored by any one player based on player count. The person with the most points wins!
The types of cards included and their scoring criteria:
Duo Cards: Each of these cards shows a symbol of the card’s icon with a matching silhouette of its icon, signifying that two cards with matching icons create a pair. Each pair is worth 1 point at game end. In addition, this is the only card type that is played to the table and has an immediate action, which is beneficial for the person who plays it. Examples are an extra turn immediately or permission to steal a random card from another player. There are four unique types of these Duo Cards.
Mermaid Cards: There are four of these in the deck and if any player possesses them all, they immediately win the entire game. This rarely happens! The first mermaid card a player has earns 1 point for each color card they have the most of, while the second one earns 1 point for each color card they have the second most of, etc.
Collector Cards: These cards have a picture of an object or animal on their upper left-hand corner and a series of numbers, such as 0, 3, 6, 9, and 12, on their left side, which are point values based on how many of a card type a player has collected. There are four unique types of these cards.
Point Multiplier Cards: These cards each show a point value
and a symbol that appears on other cards in the deck. When you collect the
cards indicated, they provide the point values shown.
Each round ends when a player reaches 7 points and declares it on their turn. The following round begins as per initial game setup, and the game ends when a round ends and any player has the required point total, based on the ratio for 2/3/4 players as 40/35/30 points. The player with the most total points wins! For 2–4 players, with 30 minutes of playing time. ~ Marsha
