Written for the burgeoning young chef, Look and Cook Breakfast by Valorie Fisher takes a visual approach to recipes. Each breakfast-themed recipe—ranging from avocado toast to mini pancakes—depicts its instructions primarily via images, with text only occasionally included. At the front of the book are several pages showing kids the different tools they will need, different tasks they may need to do, and important reminders, all presented in pictures as well. This way, even if your young chef is still struggling with reading, he or she can still crack open their own cookbook and follow instructions to tasty results. Each recipe includes number of servings and time spent, and any tasks involving ovens, knives, or kitchen appliances are presented with a red warning icon to remind the student to ask for assistance. Students may still need additional guidance choosing the correct measuring utensils, as these can be hard to distinguish visually. Hardcover, 43 pages.
