Description

Elementary Mathematics Book 1 is a parent-child interactive, exploratory approach to mathematics. The lessons are primarily oral, with minimal writing expected. Topics include numbers 1–100 (counting, investigating, and analyzing), place value through 100, math symbols (+,-,=), money through $1, and double-digit addition and subtraction; skip-counting, review, oral work, and mental math are integral. A ¾” gridded notebook is recommended, although some children may be ready for a ½” gridded notebook. We offer a Book 1 with ¾” Gridded Notebook Package for your convenience. Household items for number and place value explorations (or purchased manipulatives) are required. Children will need 3 each of the number cards 1–9 (make your own with index cards or purchase), a chalk or dry-erase board, and coins and a coin purse (instructions for a no-sew coin purse in Book 1).
