Students weekly review phonics, learn sight words, and decode high-frequency words. Context clues are taught to discern word meanings for comprehension and reading fluency. Short listening activities and comprehension passages strengthen auditory skills. All reading passages are verified with Lexile analyzer for this grade level. Story sequencing and understanding is practiced. Diagnostic tests provide beginning, middle and end-of-year evaluation. At this guide’s end, you’ll find fourteen detailed Literature Guides for suggested read-aloud books and ten Student Reader Book Guides, with background information; lesson-by-lesson vocabulary; discussion questions/answers; Biblical worldview application; and more.
