Real Science-4-Kids Book 6 builds on the foundational understanding of chemistry, biology, physics, geology, and astronomy in Book 5. The concepts at this level spiral back to the concepts in Book 2 only on a more in-depth level. Reading level of the text is around grades 6-8; therefore, if your child is reading the text independently, he/she should at least be reading at this grade range. Some topics covered in each category include:
- Introduction – technology, engineering, Archimedes
- Chemistry – tools chemists use, acids and bases, reactions, neutralization, titration, conversion factor, nutritional chemistry
- Biology – Botanists and other biologists, different parts and types of microscopes, protists and how they move and eat, fungi (mushrooms, mold, yeast) and its classification, structure, and reproduction
- Physics – Types of tools used in physics, calculating speed, electronics, inertia, friction, motion, solve for time and other math equations for physics (including “You Do It” math problems with solutions), velocity, acceleration, nonlinear motion
- Geology – Geologists and the tools they use, Earth’s spheres, the geosphere, and the atmosphere, greenhouse effect
- Astronomy – Astronomers and the tools they use, mapping the stars, our solar system and other solar systems, stars
- Conclusion – Collaborating and how scientists work together
