Before Five in a Row is designed for ages 2-4 and was created to be done 2 or 3 times a week. The goal is to have a happy introduction to books while creating a foundation for academic learning in later grades. There are two parts to this guide. The first part includes the list of 24 children’s classics to read (stories are sold separately) followed by activities correlating to each story. For example, after reading Goodnight Moon, some tasks include reading a Bible verse about the creation of the sun, moon, and stars; noticing the art in the story; talking about the different kinds of animals in the illustrations; playing a memory game; and learning about shapes. The second part has many ideas for you to do with your child to promote learning readiness such as reading poetry and nursery rhymes, activities for developing large and small motor skills, an Animal Classification game, and much more. Storydisks and a Storybook Map are included in the back to introduce young children to geography and maps.
