Latin Alive! Book 3 Student Edition
Description
Latin Alive! Book 3 (Student Edition) includes lessons on Roman culture, myths, and history, as well as Latin readings and exercises that will prepare students for the National Latin Exam and an Advanced Placement Latin course. It also features original Latin writings.

- Every chapter includes at least one reading, with an explanation of the phrases in the reading, a glossary, and comprehension questions.
- Each unit ends with a unit reading (longer than the chapter readings) that includes some history on the piece, information on Latin literature, and a multiple-choice question section to check comprehension.
- The last unit includes readings and lessons on original Latin poetry and historical information about Latin poets.
- There are several appendices, including a pronunciation guide, reference charts, a guide to abbreviations, a list of noun cases and their common uses, and worksheets on parsing, declining, and conjugating.
- Grammar includes more in-depth study of the subjunctive mood, irregular nouns, noun and verb reviews, the gerund and gerundive, impersonal verbs, conditional statements, and a study of different kinds of clauses (purpose, result, doubting, fearing).
- The Latin Alive! Book 3 Teacher's Edition includes the entire content of the student edition as well as translations, extensive teacher's notes, and unit test reviews and unit tests.
Latin Alive! is a middle school (and early high school) Latin program from Classical Academic Press made for beginners. There will be 3 levels when the revision is complete, each a full school year of study. Chapters are grouped into 5 units, with each unit ending with a reading portion that includes some history of ancient Rome and the world affected by Rome. Students love this part!
The revision largely changed how the content is presented. It now has a less intense, more enjoyable pacing. Parents/teachers have the option to extend exercises or use them in a simpler form. The older and new editions are not compatible. It is important to note that Latin Alive! when done with the additional practice prepares students for both the National Latin Exam and an Advanced Placement Latin course.
Students learn the basics, including classical pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, translating, speaking, and Roman culture and history (in English). Unit review chapters resemble the format of the reading comprehension portion of the National Latin Exam and the multiple-choice section of the AP Latin exam.
Each student will need a consumable Student Edition. You will find classical pronunciation, a complete glossary of vocabulary words, grammar lessons & exercises, sentence translation, multi-sensory exercises, chapter readings, unit reviews, reading helps, historical context, and bonus material. Helpful appendices add convenient references for the student. These are not reproducible.
Whether you are teaching a co-op, classroom, or a student at home, you will need the Teacher Edition*. This includes student pages with answers filled in, a pacing guide to complete a chapter over 8 instructional days (32 weeks), and helpful tips to make you feel more confident as the teacher.
*Assessments (chapter quizzes) are not in the Teacher’s Edition. A Quiz Packet can be purchased separately from www.classicalacademicpress.com . The downloadable packet includes a weekly quiz for each chapter, complete scoring key, and suggested scoring.
Streaming Videos offer weekly 30-minute video lessons with author, Karen Moore. Not only does this help the parent who may not be solid in Latin, but it guides the students in correct pronunciation. You will receive an email with access to these videos. Access is for the life of the product.
