A
guided reading experience through the discovery of a lost and abused puppy, the
lies we tell when we think we are doing good, consequences we face because of
our dishonesty, and the development of character. The Progeny Press
Shiloh Study Guide helps middle school readers sift through lots of
emotions and character-building moments in this literature study. Sections are
broken into about 2-3 chapters from the text. Vocabulary review has been given
its own section breakdown in this guide and will review 2 comprehension
sections at a time. Comprehension sections ask students to recall information
and details from their reading and then connect those understandings on a
deeper level to scripture and their own walk with Christ. Literary skills
include setting, characterization, story structure elements,
similes, and descriptive writing. Prereading Activities provide
context to what you will read. The After-You-Read Activities point you to the
Progeny Press Pinterest™ Boards for more ways to connect with
the reading. A catered list of age-appropriate Further Reading books is
provided. Answers are in the back on perforated pages for easy removal.
***Parent’s Note: this story and guide explore the reality of animal cruelty.
You know your students best and whether they are ready for such subject matter.

will likely be suitable for your student. All presented from a Christian
worldview, each guide is filled with comprehension questions, vocabulary
building, and scriptural connections and application. Pages can be copied for
family and individual classroom use. Many of the classics are found in this
collection and would provide a great opportunity (or incentive) for your
students to read the book and watch the movie! The recommended target goal is
for students to read 4-6 guides during the school year. Answers are in the back
and can be easily removed. Each guide includes Notes to the Instructor, mini
author biographies, and background information. You may be working with a range
of students all from one guide, and that’s okay! Each student will do what they
are developmentally capable of accomplishing. It is easy to read just for fun,
yet adding a literature guide helps to provide a guided reading experience
promoting deeper thought and critical thinking. ~Rebecca
