The Number the Stars Study Guide from Progeny Press guides middle school readers through a historical topic that is both difficult and important. Not only is this a WWII literature selection, but it’s focus is specific to the Holocaust and the forced deportation of Jews from their homes. Each section covers 3-4-chapters of the novel at a time. Starting each section is vocabulary building skills, followed by comprehension questions, and concluding each section are scriptural connections being made. This guide spends more time connecting the novel with scripture and a Christian perspective. There are still a few literary skills touched upon, characterization, denotative, connotative, personification, and symbolism. Prereading Activities provide context to what you will read. The After-You-Read Activities are suggested extension work to make connections to what you just read. A catered list of age-appropriate Further Reading books is also provided. Answers are in the back on perforated pages for easy removal. 54 pages, softcover. ~Rebecca
