This set includes all of the items from the Biology Lab, #008776 (prepared slides used in the course, blank slide plates and cover slips, 4 dropper pipettes, methylene blue, iodine, Micro-Art drawing paper, and lens paper), and a high school quality microscope. The microscope is made by National Optical and meets requirements for high school courses. It is of cast alloy construction and includes the following features: 10X wide-field eyepiece for a wider field of view; 45 inclined head; 360 head rotation; triple nosepiece; full-size DIN objective with achromatic, parfocal and parcentric lenses; 40X, 100X and 400X magnification; NA 0.65 condenser which is sufficient up to 400X magnification; 5 hole disc diaphragm; LED; 115m stage; spring loaded stage clips; rack and pinion control; coarse and fine focus knobs; adjustable stage stop; and a lifetime limited warranty. An excellent quality microscope that will take your child up to college.

Category Description for Exploring Creation with Biology

Teaching a high school biology course at home can be challenging. Apologia's Exploring Creation with Biology offers Christian homeschool families a college preparatory science course with a comprehensive lab experience to meet high school requirements. Best of all, the course is developed to be student-led and independent. Viewing God as the Master Designer of life, this course offers a thorough explanation of the scientific method, tools, limitations of science, and an evaluates the theory of evolution through a Biblical worldview.  Topically, students will study the science and chemistry of life, ecology, genetics, bacteria, viruses, protists, fungi, plants, and animals. There are 16 modules, each taking approximately 2 weeks (1 hour per day/5 days per week.), exams follow each module and quarterly exams are also included. Three types of lab exercises are included: Household, microscopic, and dissections. Required lab equipment includes a 400x microscope, concave and flat slides, prepared slide set sold separately, dissection tools and specimens. Lab Kits are available.  The publisher recommends all three types of lab exercises for a science lab credit.

Required components include the softcover Student Text and the Solutions and Tests Book. Numerous optional supplemental products include the recommended Student Notebook, Video Instruction Thumb Drive, and the Audio MP3 CD.
