In Discovering God's World, students review topics taught in the kindergarten course, and learn more about our sense organs, energy, animals, insects, plants, and seasons. Various activities are planned, for example: making a balloon jet, ramp races, raising tadpoles, observing the stages of a butterfly, making a bird feeder and more. Homeschool curriculum lesson plans include expanded daily lessons for history, science and health. It also includes a schedule for art and music (sold separately). Expanded daily lesson plans teach history, science, and health alternatively throughout the year. Grade 1 focuses on social studies and community helpers first, followed by science, history, and health. Discovering God's World is divided into 35 lessons, with a 3 day per week schedule. Lessons will take about 20 minutes. Thursday and Friday are dedicated art or music days. If you elect not to add in art or music, these days become flexible to meet your homeschool schedule or use them to read aloud living books that relate to the week's topic! Colorful and consumable, the softcover student textbook is written as a student reader designed to build vocabulary and comprehension skills through discussion. The text also includes a variety of age-appropriate activities, from color by numbers to matching exercises. There is no grading at this level, as the focus is introducing topics of interest and the loving care of a Creator God. Teacher guides contain answers, teaching notes, reading assignments, comprehension questions and more.
